👀 about me

My name is Karol Benatti and I have always felt intrigued about how things that looks so simple are sometimes so hard to understand. Like buildings, or roads, or doors, or apps. Finding ways of making things easier has been a big fuel for every project I’ve worked on, with architecture designing, urban planning, art and exhibition production, tour management or digital product designiI’ve vbeng.

In 2020 I started to look at technology and digital products more closely and I have immersed on the world of user-centered design, where all those conceptual questioning could be combined with research, data and design principles to find ways to humanize tech experiences and help people through design! 🤘

🔸 my work process

This are usually the steps I follow to organize how to design a solution from the very beggining, but it can surely be adapted to suit specific design needs. It is a combination of two main design frameworks: user-centered design and design thinking, which can structure in a very simple way the masterplan of the work process.

<aside> 🔍 Discover When I join a project, the first thing that I to do is to collect as much available information I can to understand the problem, the context and business main goals. It may be needed to have a foundation research to empathize with users, understand their feelings and thoughts to reduce uncertainty around the problem or idea and make sure that we're going to work on the right solution.

<aside> 💡 Ideate With the right problem in mind, I can start to brainstorm around possibilities and narrow down the best ideas to start working on mind maps, user flows, wireframes, and journeys. I usually map the paths on the journey where the users are having more trouble to prioritize solutions step by step. In this phase, I also validate sketches and ideas through user testing and documenting every insight that might be usefull in the future.

<aside> ✏️ Prototype Coolest part of the process - as long as the idea is validated, I can scale down some versions of the product that shows important functions, always with a clear goal in mind. Then I can start working on the interactive prototype, validating every important move to ellaborate (or adapt) the visual identity and style guides, with components, typography styles, colors, etc. It's important to communicate with the dev team to make actual possible features, also considering the time and budget available.

<aside> 📊 Test The "last" part of the iterative process includes some usabiIity and A/B tests whenever it is possible, to understand user's behavior and get feedbacks based on which I can make changes and improvements to the product.

🔸 some projects

I have been in the market for two years now and I’ve had the opportunity to work on some very interesting projects since I started studying about UX!
